Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? | Matthew 6:26 (NLT)
How much time do you actually spend with God every year? It probably isn’t as much as you might think…
We have two choices. We can continue to fuel the fire and share a message of fear, or we can change the rhetoric and share a message of hope.
We can have a fullness of joy in our shared life with Jesus. That fullness of joy is ours through our friendship with one another and with God. And all that is made possible through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Can you believe we’re only just over halfway through this year? It seems like a lot already right? But hold on to your seats because it’s a presidential election year so as we approach November, it should be interesting to see what comes next. So where are you at? Has your year gone as planned? We’re sitting here at the end of July, and my question to you today is this, “Are you tired, yet?”
I want to start today by sharing a story. A few months ago, we had an issue at our house. It was right after breakfast. Caryn was doing the dishes and Carter was taking a shower. I heard Carter mumble something from the bathroom upstairs, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying. Then I heard Caryn say something about the water temperature in the sink. She said that there wasn’t any hot water coming out of the sink. That’s when it clicked with me that Carter was probably saying the same thing upstairs.
When I was young and growing up, I used to believe some strange things. Things that I NOW know are completely and utterly ridiculous. I’m going to be vulnerable for a few minutes and share a list of stuff that I full-heartedly believed as a kid.
Last week, I was listening to the radio and heard something that I thought was interesting. One of the hosts was talking about something that she wanted to start doing but said she didn’t have the time to do it right now. The other host began to question if she wanted to do it or […]
I’m a story lover. I love sitting around, talking to people, and sharing stories with other people. I’m a story swapper. Before I had my kids, I’d share stories about sports or school or memories. Nowadays, I’d say 90% of my stories are about my kids. Kids tend to consume their parent’s lives and thoughts. […]
What’s the difference between renting and owning? Renting means you can borrow something that belongs to someone else. You can use it and then return it when you’re done. There’s little to no responsibility on your part. If it doesn’t work, you can take it back and get another one. Owning is different. Ownership involves […]
Jesus was always surrounding himself with people who were not perfect. Mark called them disreputable sinners. Who do we surround ourselves with?
In the story of the paralyzed man being lowered to Jesus to be healed, there are 4 different characters. Who are you?
Christians like to throw this phrase around when talking about how we should react to the world today and the sinful ways of people. Many Christians claim that this phrase is in the Bible. But, did you know that the Bible never actually say this verbatim. In fact, it’s actually a direct quote from Gandhi, the Hindi guy.

Day 1 || Surrender — Click Here Day 2 || Surrender — Click Here 18 This is how Jesus the Messiah was born. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But before the marriage took place, while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant through the power of the Holy Spirit. […]
Day 1 || Surrender — Click Here 39 A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town 40 where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. 41 At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 Elizabeth […]
Day 1 || Surrender 26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, 27 to a virgin named Mary. Just a few Christmas videos from the SkitGuys.
We certainly do have moments where living on a deserted island would be nice. I get it. I’ve been there. But God wired us for something different. Something challenging and hard, but something good.
Week 1: Wired: Seeing God Everywhere You Look. I have a question for y’all? Who has a cell phone? If you don’t, that’s okay. You probably have less stress in your life without it. So, for those who do, who picked out the phone, the plan, the provider? Did you get it online, at Walmart, at […]
I want to admit something to y’all. I know how to use technology. I can explain to you how to use a phone, computer, tv, YouTube, Pandora… but don’t ask me why it works. Cause I don’t know. I love shopping online. Amazon is great, but why is it that when I type on my […]
Has anyone ever seen a sign in a restaurant declaring that the eating establishment was voted “Best Restaurant in Town” or “Best Ribs In The City” or something similar? It’s pretty common for newspapers, magazines, or websites to run contests each year letting readers choose “the greatest” in many different categories. I want to do […]
What the rest of the world thinks about you does not matter in comparison to what God thinks about you. Based on what the Bible says, He thinks some incredible things about you!
Well, it’s that time of the year again. The time of year when families and friends gather to celebrate the accomplishments of students finishing up a major chapter in their lives.
God’s purpose for our lives is not just to save us, but to have us become like His Son, Jesus, a true masterpiece. A masterpiece is a piece of art that is deemed to be the greatest work by the artist. Da Vinci’s masterpiece is the Mona Lisa. Dali’s masterpiece is the Persistence of Memory. […]
We talk a lot about worshipping God, but too often we assume that worship is something that only happens when we lift our hands and sing during the slow songs at church. Really, worship is so much more than that.
I’m less than a week away from starting a 3-year, online program to obtain my Masters in Divinity with an emphasis on Worship degree. All the paperwork has been turned in. All the introductory classes have been completed. All the appointments with counselors are over. At this point, I am waiting… simply waiting for the […]
“It’s okay to eat a donut every day as long as you spend time with Jesus.” These have probably been some of the most powerful words a pastor has EVER spoken to me. Okay, Okay. Probably not the most powerful words EVER but I do like donuts. I also know that donuts don’t fall into the […]
As Christians, we should look differently than those who don’t believe in Jesus Christ. Do you?
Jesus took praying to God extremely seriously. Do we follow His example?
Are you passionate about worship? Do you know what it means to live a worshipful lifestyle?
Is there someone in your life that you need to make the decision to give grace to?
As Christians, we should be the first ones in line to get on the ground to pick someone like Lochte up. But why don’t we?
When singled out from anything else, a word is simply that.. a word. But do you know the full power that your words have?
God has given us a very good life. Yet we still complain every day about one thing or another that we do not have. Why?
People expect everything to happen now. Our society believes that everything should happen within a split second of when they want it to happen. But is that biblical?
You can tell a lot about what you consider to be important by looking at where your time is spent. How are your priorities?
Do you worry? So do I. We have something in common.
